Jesus Cisneros, AMFT

I’m Jesús Cisneros, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) at Lost Coast Family Therapy. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Cal Poly Humboldt and work from a person-centered framework, integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with adults, individuals, couples, and families. As a bilingual therapist (Spanish/English), I provide culturally responsive and affirming care. I am in the process of completing certification, with plans to offer trauma-informed weightlifting groups that support emotional healing through movement. I am currently accepting new clients for in-person and virtual sessions.

My approach to therapy is best described as eclectic, as I integrate strategies from CBT, parts work, ACT, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, etc.

I have also started Adventures Along the Lost Coast, our very own Dungeons and Dragons therapy group. As a certified Therapeutic Game Master, I lead my groups through harrowing journeys, with monsters, magic, and therapeutic discussion!

Jennifer "Scully" Powell, LMFT & BCBA

May strives to develop a comfortable and supportive therapeutic alliance with

clients in order to create a safe space for them to fully feel and process their

emotions. She takes a Person-Centered approach to therapy, following her client’s

lead as they share their stories and process their experiences. May integrates

various therapeutic modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy,

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and others to support

clients with their specific needs and challenges on their path of growth and healing.

Taking into account each clients unique worldview, life experience, stressors and

circumstances, May aims to support her clients in accepting where they are in life,

understand how they got there, and explore what moving forward in a more

authentic and meaningful way looks like for them.

She works with clients to identify their strengths and areas for growth, while

building on and exploring current coping strategies to support clients in developing

tools to better care for themselves emotionally, mentally and physically,

acknowledging the intricate connection between these areas of life. May works

with clients to cultivate and deepen self-awareness, gaining a deeper understanding

of themselves and the patterns they experience. She supports clients in unraveling

their past experiences in order to process and heal their pain and traumas so that

they are able to live fully in the present and put forth more energy into the life they

want to create for themselves. She supports her clients in learning tools to support

their nervous system and work on emotion regulation in order to reduce distress

and navigate life’s obstacles from a more balanced place. May uses her background

in Child Development and trauma informed care to support children through play

therapy, and enjoys working with clients of all ages and identities.
